So we were pleasantly surprised to see it not looking so bad when we got home. Granted it was weedy (nothing stops those weeds from growing!!) but the plants all were alive and kicking!
We had lots of cucumbers and Zuchini ready to be picked, so J picked them on Friday morning and left them in the house for me to deal with.
Saturday morning I made another 6 jars of dill pickles. We checked our basement to see what we had left over from last year and decided we probably didn't need any more dills made up, and probably only one case (12 jars) of Sweet sliced made up. While we do eat a lot of pickles, we can't manage to get through everything we make in one year, even with giving a lot of them away to family, friends, strangers on the street.
The zuchini will be shredded up and frozen in food saver bags. We add it to sauces, stews, soups, etc all winter, and even fry it up on its own with a can of tomatoes and eat it on its own or with rice. Yum!!!
Monday morning I will have to cut some lettuce and make up some salad for my supper at work, since we have lots of ready to eat stuff that hasn't gone to flower yet!
We have been eating the cherry tomatoes as they ripen, but pretty soon they will get ahead of us! With them and the cukes all ready I def see more greek pasta salad in my future!
The peas aren't quite ready yet, but since I took these pictures and this morning there are a bunch of beans ready to go!!
